Two years ago almost to the day, I got a cold that I'm 99% was walking pneumonia.
On top of me being constantly worried I was going to die in my sleep because I couldn't breathe, it was the coldest, wettest February that my city had seen in a few years, shutting down roads and generally making it a shitty time to be a Canadian. I was house sitting for my parents so I was expected to shovel like a foot of snow while trying not to die with all the fluid in my lungs. My father doesn't believe in winter tires so it was impossible to get anywhere. I couldn't sleep because whenever I laid down it sounded like Darth Vader was in the room with me and I began coughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath.
Because of that, I hate February.
My shitty February luck has struck once again. As I type this, a tissue is firmly stuffed into my nostrils to stop them from running while my head is down looking at the screen. I'm just a faucet-- eyes, nose. Ears popping. My brain feels like it might just be snot at this time. I cannot stop sneezing. And it's slowly making its way into my lungs right now; I can feel the tickle and the rattle starting. I'm house sitting, and of course it's been snowing on and off all day, great big wet flakes and is supposed to continue all night and into tomorrow.
I fucking hate February.
And of course, I agreed to substitute teach all this week. I hope these kids don't mind me snotting all over them because, after all, sharing is caring.
Whatever. Relish in my shitty February time with the currents. Extra songs in the rotation because February can suck my balllllzzz.
