let's get lost

ok, not everyone likes twilight. I get it.

but i do.
do/did same shit.

anyways, the new soundtrack for eclipse! wow. my thoughts:

in the third installment of the incredibly popular 'twilight saga', 'eclipse' has some big shoes to fill. a lot of expectation is riding on this film since it's such a crucial book in the series; bella finally stops being a sandy vagina about choosing between jacob and edward, edward pops the question and there's finally some violence in this mormon-love fest.
so it's only fitting that the soundtrack has to carry some weight as well.
with the twilight soundtrack, it was so... indie and quaint and earthy-- lots of sounds that sounded ethereal but were so organic and earthy that you could really understand that this movie was simply a story about a girl falling in love with the wrong guy. the first soundtrack set up the storyline; the narrative that would need to be shattered in new moon.
new moon had to be dark and haunting since the book is a bunch of garbage. there needed to be some songs that were a little bit sad (or a lot sad, depending on which team, edward or jacob, you cheer for), there needed to be some songs that redeemed; songs that gave hope and comfort to the wounded soul. and then there needed to be an epic song, one that would fully explain that love, true love, is really forever.
with that said, new moon missed the mark.
i hated that soundtrack. there was like, 3 songs i could handle. and the way they were used in the movie was just dreadful. chris weitz... for future reference not every scene in a movie needs background noise. you ruined the most heart-wrenching break-up scene in the history of break-up scenes by putting some sappy ass 'emotion evoking' violins.
fuck that, i sob because of the words, not because there are violins playing in the background.

so when i read the playlist for eclipse, i was a little hesitant, for obvious reasons.

my jaded opinion on the twilight saga is no more.

wow! the names, the songs, excellent! they're emotion provoking, thoughtful and well put together. i'm totally digging it.
so for this weeks recommendation, i say the twilight saga eclipse soundtrack. on it you'll get beck and bat for lashes, florence + the machine, metric etc... if you're a skeptic, take a gander at 'let's get lost' natasha from bat for lashes and beck's submission to the twilight machine or 'heavy in your arms' by florence + the machine.

but seriously... even if you hate twilight this album is worth owning. i'll even permit you to black out rob, kristen and taylors face.
well... maybe not rob's. that's kind of blasphemous.
