i can't believe i've never waxed poetic about this subject. i touched on the glitch mob which are essentially the same format, just different.
but the fact that i haven't gone gaga over girl talk is unseemingly ridiculous. even my inner monologue finds it ridiculous that i haven't spouted my infinite knowledge and unwavering love for this philly dj/mix artist/brilliant human being.
so i will go forth and do this. over and over again.
feed the animals is possibly the best album i have in my collection right now (besides, like, radiohead's ok computer or cage's hells winter. pffft). the genius is, you shouldn't listen to just one or two songs, you have to listen to the whole thing from play your part pt 1 to the very end, play your part pt 2. i tried an experiment once to see if i could get the same smooth results by playing just the two play your part parts together and, well, there's a reason i'm getting a degree in teaching because i definitely won't be a dj anytime soon. the album is genius because for every three songs you don't know, you'll know ten at the least. i can pick out eminem, jackson five, procol harem, the band, outkast... everything and it`s fucking brilliant.
he's coming to my city tomorrow. and by tomorrow i mean friday. technically it's already thursday since it's after midnight BUT whatever. i'm in a post-eclipse [read: post-coital] bliss right now so forgive me if i'm not selling the album 'feed the animals' as hard as i want to.
but for real though, folks. i know i say it every time i make a recommendation but this time it's sort of like a do or die kind of thing. if you don't pick up girl talk's 'feed the animals' album (or 'night ripper', my other personal favorite) you will die.
just sayin'.
