i can't stress how bored i get about top 40 music. i also cannot stress how much i'm liking this gritty, rhythm & blues sound rivival of late. and it's getting better every time i listen.
i love all things gritty and a throwback to the ages of old.
and southern rock. my god i love southern fried rock.
but all that aside, if you're feeling down in the proverbial top 40 blues, take a listen to the heavy. there ain't no way you won't instantly fall in love with them. i can't stop listening to every track on their album 'the house that dirt built'.
originally, and i won't be shy about it, but the first time i heard the first single 'how you like me now?' was after the superbowl when they release the commercials to canada. the song is featured in the new kia sorrento ad and boy, did it have me hooked.
the baseline, the singer, the guitars.
it makes me feel like i'm in my parents basement on a beanbag chair with the vinyl on. i feel gritty listening to it and i love it.
so in a nutshell, this is my pick for the month of march. buy it! now! that is all, minions.
and if you liked the heavy, definitely check out wolf people. i know a couple of fangirls that i'm sure remember the song from being in the details out take video? you know the one right? the one where robert pattinson is surrounded by vag? [i realize after typing that i'm sure he's always surrounded by vag... but you know what i'm getting at...]
yeah. you heard the song. i doubt you paid attention. as it was, i had to watch several times to get the full effect.
of the music... yeah. that too.
